What is prostate?
The prostate is a small, walnut-sized gland located just below the bladder in men. It surrounds the urethra, the tube that carries urine and semen out of the body. The primary function of the prostate is to produce seminal fluid, which nourishes and transports sperm during ejaculation. The prostate also plays a role in hormone regulation and can be affected by various health issues, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostatitis, and prostate cancer. Regular check-ups are important for maintaining prostate health, especially as men age.
